Multi-objective evolutionary computation and fuzzy optimization

چکیده
In fuzzy optimization it is desirable that all fuzzy solutions under consideration be attainable, so that the decision maker will be able to make ‘‘a posteriori’’ decisions according to current decision environments. No additional optimization runs will be needed when the decision environment changes or when the decision maker needs to evaluate several decisions to establish the most appropriate ones. In this sense, multi-objective optimization is similar to fuzzy optimization, since it is also desirable to capture the Pareto front composing the solution. The Pareto front in a multi-objective problem can be interpreted as the fuzzy solution for a fuzzy problem. Multi-objective evolutionary algorithms have been shown in the last few years to be powerful techniques in solving multi-objective optimization problems because they can search for multiple Pareto solutions in a single run of the algorithm. In this contribution, we first introduce a multi-objective approach for nonlinear constrained optimization problems with fuzzy costs and constraints, and then an ‘‘ad hoc’’ multi-objective evolutionary algorithm to solve the former problem. A case study of a fuzzy optimization problem arising in some import–export companies in the south of Spain is analyzed and the proposed solutions from the evolutionary algorithm considered here are given. 2006 Elsevier Inc. An Approach to Reducing Overfitting in FCM with Evolutionary Optimization
Fuzzy clustering methods are conveniently employed in constructing a fuzzy model of a system, but they need to tune some parameters. In this research, FCM is chosen for fuzzy clustering. Parameters such as the number of clusters and the value of fuzzifier significantly influence the extent of generalization of the fuzzy model. These two parameters require tuning to reduce the overfitting in the...
متن کاملA NOVEL FUZZY MULTI-OBJECTIVE ENHANCED TIME EVOLUTIONARY OPTIMIZATION FOR SPACE STRUCTURES
This research presents a novel design approach to achieve an optimal structure established upon multiple objective functions by simultaneous utilization of the Enhanced Time Evolutionary Optimization method and Fuzzy Logic (FLETEO). For this purpose, at first, modeling of the structure design problem in this space is performed using fuzzy logic concepts. Thus, a new problem creates with functio...
متن کاملPresenting an evolutionary improved algorithm for the multi-objective problem of distribution network reconfiguration in the presence of distributed generation sources and capacitor units with regard to load uncertainty.
Reconfiguration of distribution network feeders is one of the well-known and effective strategies in the distribution network to obtain a new optimal configuration for the distribution feeders by managing the status of switches in the distribution network. This study formulates the multi-objective problem of reconfiguration of a distribution network in the optimal presence of distributed genera...
متن کاملCombined Economic and Emission Dispatch Solution Using Exchange Market Algorithm
This paper proposes the exchange market algorithm (EMA) to solve the combined economic and emission dispatch (CEED) problems in thermal power plants. The EMA is a new, robust and efficient algorithm to exploit the global optimum point in optimization problems. Existence of two seeking operators in EMA provides a high ability in exploiting global optimum point. In order to show the capabilities ...
متن کاملInteractive Fuzzy Modeling by Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization with User Preference
One of the new trends in genetic fuzzy systems (GFS) is the use of evolutionary multiobjective optimization (EMO) algorithms. This is because EMO algorithms can easily handle two conflicting objectives (i.e., accuracy maximization and complexity minimization) when we design accurate and compact fuzzy rule-based systems from numerical data. Since the main advantage of fuzzy rule-based systems co...
